That's why Jeff Miller suggested, strongly, that you "should" check headspace VERY often, at least for the first several thousand rounds, because with an improperly heat treated receiver, the left side rail can start to deform, allowing the headspace to "open up", very dangerous! (even on this, some'll say "that's fine", "good enough" or whatever, but, it's not "spec" to the Galil. There were issues with the right side rail being machined a little to short to allow both bolt lugs to lock up, forcing lockup on just one lug. The receivers were often not heat treated enough to be of the proper Rockwell 42-46 hardness, sometimes because of inadequate heat treating, and sometimes because there just isn't enough carbon in the steel to allow it to be hardened enough. NO offense wld427, but you should try to look over the info that's already here, and on AKFiles Galil section, because we've had quite a bit of discussion of it, sometimes a bit "heated", and I hate to "stir up" anybody any more by repeating whats wrong with them. "In all honestly", the problems with the Century Golani's have been gone over, "ad nauseum", but you obviously haven't yet been "enlightened", no problem brother, here ya' go.
