I did however add a Registry entry for Local Machine and Current user which turns on auto play for all CD/DVD and USB drives. So I can't access the group policy editor thing to tweak the auto play settings. ![]() (Please note that the 'delete driver software' check box did not appear this time, like it always does.) I restarted the computer and plugged the device in again, but, this time, before i could hit anything, Windows re-installed the same crappy driver. Naturally, I went into Device manager, found and uninstalled the device. ![]() Instead, it shows up under 'network as an inaccessible folder. Now, the problem was, Windows automatically decided it was a 3G USB modem and automatically installed one of its crappy useless drivers. According to to the instructions provided to me by my service provider, I would be able to see the device in 'My Computer', and on through it, I would be able to install the service provider's client software to connect to the internet. ![]() So, I plugged it in and waited for it to show up in 'This PC'. I just got a new Huawei EC 315 USB modem and sat down to activate it with my internet service provider.
